This is a perfect horse riding holiday for anyone wanting to get away from it all for fast hacks in mile after mile of truly spectacular country. Quinta do Paraíso Alto, 'High Paradise Farm', is a small English run horse riding centre located in the dramatic hills of the western Algarve. Run by Jinny Harman and her UK qualified team, QPA staff regularly compete at national level in show jumping, dressage and endurance riding so you'll always be in experienced hands, on fit, forward going, well mannered horses that are well used to the tough terrain.
While the riding holiday caters mainly for experienced horse riders who enjoy fast and challenging hacking, QPA can also offer jumping and provide lessons for novices, rusty riders and anyone else who needs extra tuition. There is accommodation for up to 6 guests at Jinny's villa, with additional apartments close by for larger groups.
QPA is busy with local riders throughout the summer months of June, July and August, but it is sometimes possible for the centre to take holiday guests too during these months.
The seven night holiday guarantees 15 hours riding a week, spread over five riding days. There is no riding on the first and last days of the holiday to allow for arrival and departure and a rest day for the horses on Thursday.

The weather in this part of Portugal is good most of the year as you can see from the chart below. Most days it is possible to ride in shirtsleeves, although rain is possible on occasions in the hills and along the Atlantic coast during winter months and from time to time in the summer.
