Horse riding holidays in Spain at Epona

Fernando is a highly experienced horseman and will lead the trail rides from the hacienda most days. You'll soon discover that his stories on route are as colourful as the landscape.

Every season is different at Epona, fields of wild flowers in Spring, sunflowers and oranges in Summer, the olive harvest in the Autumn. But whenever you come, you'll cross no roads, or find any gates to open or close, once you leave Epona. Trail rides take place in the morning and last for around three hours, lessons are held in the late afternoon when life's a little cooler. So there's time during the day to take it easy by the pool or fit in a little sightseeing.

The Epona training holiday has been developed for those people who want five days of training to improve their dressage or jumping on Epona's well-schooled Andalucian and thoroughbred horses. Epona's wide selection of horses can cope with most weights and levels of riding ability from novice to high school work.

Based, like the combined trail riding and training holidays, at the Epona hacienda, the holiday begins on Sunday night with a meal together with the rest of the group at a restaurant in Carmona and includes the same opportunity to visit the Royal Andalucian Equestrian School on Tuesday and the visit to the Flamenco Show and farewell restaurant meal in Seville on Friday.

This is a great opportunity for experienced riders who wish to improve their dressage skills and learn more about classical training methods, including movements such as Passage, Piaffe and Spanish Walk including the traditional techniques for training the sensitive Andalcian horse.

The programme includes a private lesson with Olympic medallist Rafael Soto, private, semi private and lunge lessons to improve the classical seat and ground work sessions with the horses. As well as a visit to The Royal Andalucian Equestrian School in Jerez, the programme also offers the opportunity to sit in on one of the training sessions at the School, observe the training methods and meet some of the famous horses and riders.

The holiday price is for a six night full board riding holiday, excluding your flights and those extras set out below, arriving Sunday after 3.30pm and departing Saturday before 12 noon. Holidays are run all year round. The price is based on sharing double, twin or family rooms, with shower and w.c. within the traditional hacienda building and courtyards.

The price includes all meals and drinks with meals, with the exception of two restaurant meals and drinks on the first and last nights. Also included is all your transport relating to the events specified in the programme and your collection and transfer from Seville airport or rail station to Epona by mini-bus or car (between the hours of 3.30 and 8pm) and your return to the same on departure before 12 noon. Guests arriving after 8pm can still be picked up but there will be a €40 charge. The day of the visit to the Royal Andalucian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez may change from season to season.

You will receive at least 15 hours riding in the case of the combined training and trailriding holiday and 10-15 hours of tuition on the Training Holiday.

Not arriving at Seville?

There is a good train service from Málaga to the centre of Seville where you can take advantage of free Epona transfer between 3.30pm - 8pm. But if you prefer, we can arrange for a driver to collect you from Málaga (€180 one way) or Jerez (€150 one way) airport to drive you to Epona.
